Mission: To Age Gracefully

As we age, we leak minerals that we did not leak before, our organs tire, our nervous system degenerates. That is where anti-oxidants, vitamins and nutriceuticals come into play. Do you want to let nature take its course or do you want to maintain your health?
First, let us talk about exercise. There are two types we are interested in: Aerobic Exercise and Resistance Training. Aerobic Exercise improves our cardiovascular system. This exercise burns calories in our bodies, makes our hearts become more efficient, causes our resting heart rates to decrease and improves our blood pressure.

Then there is Resistance Training which includes activities such as weight lifting. Resistance training is just as important as aerobic exercise. It increases lean body mass, as well as your
basal metabolic rate, promotes bone building and increases muscular strength. There is no doubt that weight training will benefit all adults regardless of age.

Let’s also talk about nutrition. We have heard time and time again how overweight and obese we are becoming. Will we lose our extra weight by eating less and exercising more ? Not necessarily. It is as important if not more so, what we eat than how much we eat.
Supplements are closely tied to nutrition. Our food comes from genetically engineered crops that are specifically designed for high yields and not for high nutrition content.

Furthermore, our fields are being depleted of the minerals necessary for nutritious crops to be grown. This is where anti- oxidants, vitamins and nutriceuticals come into play.
Lastly, it has been known for some time that as we enter the fourth decade of our lives we produce less of the important hormones that regulate all of our bodily functions. Our energy levels, our body composition, our sleep patterns, our metabolic rate, and our sexual libido are all influenced by hormones which we lose as we age. I am not speaking about elevating hormone concentrations to supra- physiological levels, but, rather to supplement them to levels near the ones you had when you were younger.

Some consider hormone replacement adventurous, but many in the health care community believe it is a new frontier in age management medicine. Hormone replacement is not new. Insulin is a hormone,
so is thyroid medicine and birth control pills, as well as the creams and pills used to treat menopause. Insulin and thyroid medicine have been used since the 1920’s. The birth control pill has been with us for over half a century. These are all hormones that have been used daily for decades. Steroids, which are also hormones, have been used as anti-inflamitories for years, and many other hormones are being used regularly to treat different disorders.
Some of them are considered so benign that they can be bought without a prescription and close follow up.

Finally, let us get back to “ageing gracefully”. What does it mean ? Ageing gracefully means that by making some lifestyle changes, breaking some old habits, and with the addition of supplements and hormone modulation we can:
· Restore your energy levels
· Increase your libido and improve your sexual performance
· Decrease the chances of acquiring degenerative conditions
   related to ageing
· Treat some chronic ailments that you attributed to “growing old”
· Improve your body composition
· Normalize your sleep patterns
· Reduce your dependence on drugs that treat symptoms (while at
the same time producing their own side effects) instead of
treating the root cause of the problem
· Promote weight loss
Meet Dr. Robert Abello
Dr. Robert Abello, originally from Barcelona, Spain, obtained his undergraduate training in Boston, Massachusetts. He subsequently worked in different research projects in the fields of physiology and endocrinology and he became author and co-author of many publications in medical journals. He graduated from the University of Miami School of Medicine and he followed with an emergency medicine residency in New Orleans, Louisiana. During the residency, he was awarded the honor of Chief Resident and also given the resident’s Teaching Award. He continues to work as a staff physician in an emergency room in South Florida.

An accomplished athlete with three marathons and multiple triathlons, he has found his passion in integrative medicine, a multidisciplinary approach to the human body. He has received a fellowship in Anti-Ageing and Regenerative Medicine as well as been trained by Cenegenics, an Age Management group. He has written articles for local newspapers as well as been featured on T.V. news shows. Dr. Abello knows that nutrition, exercise, supplements and hormone therapy in unison with detoxification are all necessary components to a healthy state.
You must ask yourself: Do I want to be 80 years young or 30 years old as we mentioned before ?

At ReGenyx, we believe that a consistent and measured application of different treatment modalities will result in a managed ageing process that we call integrative medicine.
We need to distance ourselves from our present traditional medicine and embrace a science-backed inclusive medicine that continues to treat disease while promoting the optimization of health.
